W. Clayton Williford

Husband, Father, Attorney

Clayton Williford is first and foremost a husband and father.  He never cared what profession he chose, he just wanted to be able to provide for his family.  He feels blessed that he is able to work in a profession where he is able to help care for the needs of the injured and fight to recover what is fair.

Helping People in Venezuela and Hospitals

Clayton began working in the health field after he served a mission in Venezuela for two years.  With such poor healthcare in Venezuela, he saw many people that were maimed or deformed after injuries due to lack of nutrition or injuries.  He saw children that had severe disabilities.  This broke his heart.  When he returned, he was able to use his acquired compassion and ability to relate to people to work at a hospital in North Carolina, where he grew up.  He was able to help many people with all types of illnesses on the acute care floor of a hospital and in the ICU.  He then went to college and while studying pre-medicine worked 3 jobs.  His favorite job was working in the inpatient rehab and physical therapy department of a hospital.  There he was able to help quadrapalegics, parapalegics, stroke and brain injury victims, and people with catastrophic injuries.  The saddest thing he saw was when a child or teenager would come in after having suffered a permanent, life altering injury.  All severe trauma is terrible, but it seems more tragic when it happens to a young person that is just beginning their lives.

Frustration with Insurance Companies

During his time working at the hospitals, he noticed that certain patients would be discharged before they were ready.  When he asked the administration why, they would often say the same thing: "The maximum amount of visits that the health insurance allows has been reached."  This frustrated Clayton.  These people had been paying for their insurance for years and at the time when it was most needed to continue healing, they were only allowed 12 sessions to get better.  He soon realized that he would be controlled by health insurance companies if he stayed in the medical field.

Medical and Legal Experience Combined

Clayton Williford realized that he was able to help people that are injured while not giving into the insurance companies.  He went to law school and combined his medical experience and legal knowledge to help injured clients recover physically, financially, and emotionally.

Cancer Survivor that Understands How Pain and Disability Affects Families

While in his first year of law school, Clayton was diagnosed with bone cancer on the same week that his first son was born.  This was a very difficult experience that helped him to appreciate how being disabled rips a father's ability to provide for his family.  During that year, he was able to start working for Briny Woods.  He was able to able to get health insurance for his young family.  He saw that Briny sincerely cared about each of his clients and that they truly felt cared for by Briny as their attorney.  He soon after passed the bar and Clayton and Briny have built the practice together with the goal to help each of our clients get the personalized attention that they deserve.  Clayton is licensed to practice law in both California and Texas.
